What is the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept?

Learn About it Here!

The revolution has begun. It seems as if electric vehicles are becoming more and more popular by the minute. With more brands entering the EV market each year, it can be hard to stand out. But when designing their first electric truck, Ram knew they had to do just that. The Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept is the sum total of the brand's years as a top-rated truck manufacturer and their drive to be the best. This new EV concept operates solely on battery power to enhance performance and capability while eliminating CO2 emissions. Continue reading below about the first-ever all-electric Ram truck!

Exterior Design of the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept

Ram used the typical cab-and-bed design of the truck as a blank canvas for the Ram 1500 Revolution. Instead of following tradition, Ram set out to open up new doors for drivers. Doors to more style, function, and capability. The modern and almost futuristic appeal of the Ram 1500 Revolution comes from the heroic high and wide stance, sharp lines, and an upgraded front end with an illuminated 'RAM' badge on the grille and LED "tuning fork" headlights on either side. The lower grille flows downward into a front skid plate to protect the undercarriage while on the trails. Meanwhile, the front bumper-mounted tow hooks swivel to fold flat against the bumper when not in use. Due to the absence of an internal combustion engine, the Ram 1500 Revolution features a front trunk, or frunk, where the engine would be to provide additional cargo space. The frunk is easy-to-use with a one-touch open and close feature. Down the sides, you'll find saloon-style doors that open in opposite directions without a B-pillar, allowing for easy access and a full view of the cabin. The modernization of the Ram 1500 Revolution is proven by the powered side steps, flush-mounted door handles, charge port door, rear step, and tailgate. The concept truck uses auto-leveling suspension, 24-inch alloy wheels, a 60/40-split powered multifunction tailgate, and 35-inch tires. The Revolution's cabin is four inches longer than the current Ram 1500 production model, while the bed remains the same length.

Ram 1500 Revolution Interior Design

The design team for the Ram 1500 Revolution designed it to have a continuous space from the front to the rear to provide space for anything you need. If you work on the road, it can be your mobile office, if you need more passenger space, this can be accomplished. If the bed and frunk somehow aren't enough cargo space, more can be found in the cabin. The size and location of the battery, combined with the truck's construction, give occupants increased length and overall space in the cabin. The Ram Revolution also uses RamTrack, a floor track and rail attachment system to provide a wide array of layouts by moving the seats and console. Ram Track isn't only inside the cabin, it also extends from the bed into the frunk. Nearly 50 years ago, second-row seating was introduced for a truck in club cab models. Looking ahead, Ram is continuing to shape the industry with new third-row jump seats in the Ram 1500 Revolution. Mounted to the powered mid-gate, the lower section of the jump seats can be removed to create more cargo volume. The mid-gate features a power glass pane to offer full pass-through from the bed to the frunk. This allows the Revolution to take on objects up to 18 feet in length!

Capability Features of the Ram 1500 Revolution

It's become no secret that electric power doesn't have a negative impact on a car's performance. In fact, it actually enhances it. This is because of the immediate access that drivers have to the vehicle's torque. Rather than waiting for the internal combustion engine to ignite the air/fuel mixture and build up RPMs to provide the torque being requested at the accelerator, torque is instantly sent to the wheels by electric motors because electrons are constantly flowing. Instant torque means faster response times and greater performance both on and off the road. The EV system uses a front electric drive module (EDM) and a rear EDM to send power to all four wheels, providing phenomenal traction in all conditions. By using smaller, more powerful EDMs, the design team was afforded more space for the flexible cabin. The design of the truck is also capable of accommodating larger EDMs for a high-performance application in the future. The Revolution provides greater maneuvering while parking or off-roading with four-wheel steering, which allows up to 15 degrees of articulation. An 800-volt DC fast charger that has up to 350 kilowatts can give the Ram 1500 Revolution up to 100 miles of range in roughly ten minutes.
